SUMMARY: Cornerstone Search Group has been retained by profitable, revenue generating, multi-billion market cap pharma with a highly collaborative, highly communicative, low ego, even-keeled, and resilient culture. Our client has a history of successful drug development (including a current fast-growing oncology blockbuster). They are seeking a Chief Medical Officer to guide a 40-person (and growing) team on an early stage, multi-modality pipeline (mAb, bsAb, ADC, small molecule, CAR-T) as well as to play an active BD role (i.e., research collaborations, in-licensing, acquisition). Our client is seeking an entrepreneurial MD or MD/PhD oncologist who has people management experience, a proclivity for early stage development, and will continue their cultural emphasis on collaboration, communication, positive realism, low bureaucracy, and high EQ.
Location
New York Metro Area (on-site or hybrid)
This role is based in our client’s New York Metro Area office and will require occasional travel to its European headquarters. Our client prefers local candidates (i.e., NJ, NY, PA, CT) or candidates along the Eastern seaboard (e.g., MA, MD, DC, NC, DE).
Responsibilities
- Accountable for the continued building and development of the company's pipeline.
- Lead (and continue to build) a team across Clinical Science/Development, Translational Medicine, Clinical Operations, Data Science, Regulatory, etc. in the US and EU
- Oversee the design and execution of oncology clinical trials strategy that incorporate global regulatory, medical, and commercial considerations.
- Develop relationships with academic research institutions and KOLs.
- Play active role in BD efforts including identifying and forging drug discovery research collaborations, in-licensing, co-development/co-marketing, and acquisition
Qualifications / Requirements
DESIRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / BEHAVIORS:
- Oncology or Immunology medical training desired
- Previous pharma industry clinical development leadership experience across multiple assets
- Experience leading early stage oncology clinical strategy
- Experience with both biologics and small molecules is desired
- People management experience
- PhD and/or prior lab research experience is a plus.
- High emotional intelligence, the desire to make an impact, and the demonstrated courage to overcome obstacles when you believe strongly in something
- Clear and concise communication skills
