Responsibilities

The NGS Specialist will play a key role in wet-lab bench work, designing, executing, and validating molecular/genomic tests within a design control framework and contribute to the development of cutting-edge molecular assays.  This role will focus on characterizing intra- and inter-patient heterogeneity in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in various cancers, utilizing single-cell barcoding and other advanced techniques. This team is dedicated to generating multi-omics maps of rare single cells and characterizing ctDNA/ctRNA profiles from plasma to understand the natural history of cancer progression.

  • Utilize your experience in NGS wet-lab techniques, dedicated to creating and validating innovative solutions for unmet research and clinical needs.
  • Develop high-sensitivity molecular assays for NGS and digital PCR from enriched rare blood cells and human plasma.
  • Hands-on involvement in the design, development, qualification, and validation of molecular-based assays, supporting pre-clinical trials.
  • Execute various RNA/DNA sequencing workflows, including sample preparation, library construction, data generation, data processing, and interpretation of results.
  • Utilize different molecular biology technologies, including RNA and DNA isolation, PCR, quantitative real-time PCR, digital PCR, and sequencing of small numbers of cells to single cells.
  • Support ongoing development, validation, and troubleshooting of assays for low cell number input assays, including targeted RNA-seq, WES, and WGS at the single-cell level.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related field.
  • Pharma/Biotech industry or academic experience in cancer genomics, tumor biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related fields, with at least a few years of hands-on laboratory/benchwork and new molecular-based assay development experience.
  • Extensive experience in NGS technologies and applications (RNA-Seq, WES, WGS).
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including RNA/DNA isolation, PCR, quantitative real-time PCR, digital PCR, and sequencing of small numbers of cells to single cells.
  • Experience in developing molecular-based assays/diagnostic assays within a design control environment.
  • Knowledge of clinical biomarker discovery, development, and analysis, assay development/validation, and relevant platforms.
  • Working knowledge of cell-based and molecular models used in cancer biology is a plus.
  • Experience working with clinically relevant patient sample types (e.g., whole blood, plasma).
