SUMMARY:
Cornerstone Search Group has been retained by an attractive, growing Biopharma organization with a people-focused culture that is stable (marketed product, significant backing, and strong pipeline) and is actively looking to expand its product portfolio through internal R&D and Business Development/In-licensing efforts.
Our client is looking for a Vice President/Head of Medical Affairs (MA) that will have responsibility across the MA function to include all strategy, implementation, growth plans, hands-on leadership, direct report/people management, cross-functional collaboration, etc. You will report to an excellent CMO that is also hands-on, straightforward, and very collaborative.

- Hands-On Leadership: Our client is looking for a Medical Affairs leader that is willing to be hands-on in all aspects of the business. You will have the opportunity to influence in a team-driven environment by managing the execution of all MA strategy and operations.

- Own the Medical Affairs function: Our client (and the CMO/Hiring Manager) is looking for someone that can own the MA function. This person will have the ability to set strategy and growth plans and manage a group of high-quality professionals.
- Work Remotely: Our client allows for a remote working environment, with travel as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
In summary, the Vice President/Head of Medical Affairs (MA) will have responsibility across the MA function to include all strategy, implementation, growth plans, hands-on leadership, direct report/people management, cross-functional collaboration, etc. Report to and work alongside the CMO and collaborate across the organization.
- Lead and cultivate KOL relationships in academic and clinical medicine at the local, regional, national, and global levels.
- Maintain influence in and manage various cross-functional divisions impacting the Medical Affairs (R&D, Commercial, Market Access, etc.).
- Generate, connect, analyze, and communicate internal and external data from relevant studies to support Market Access and Commercial.
- Identify Medical Affairs KPIs/metrics that are aligned with the strategic direction of the organization. Communicate findings to the executive team.
- Develop and implement strategic scientific publication and communication plans.
- Provide clinical trial management guidance to sites/investigators conducting trials, IIRP, and registries.
- Lead the Medical Affairs team at international, national, and regional scientific meetings and conferences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- PharmD, Ph.D., or MD degree.
- 10+ years of well-rounded Medical Affairs & hands-on leadership experience, including leading field-based medical teams and medical directors.
- Track record of collaboration and teamwork, demonstrated by successful internal and external stakeholder partnerships, including but not limited to medical directors, large group practices, and KOLs.
- Therapeutic area experience in Inflammation/Immunology, Rheumatology, Eye Care/Ophthalmology, or Neurology is preferred.
- Previous success in the ability to identify creative strategies to deliver optimal value to BIIB, HCPs, and patients.
- Substantial knowledge and history of compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements for field-based scientific personnel.
- Demonstrated expertise in the interpretation of scientific data, market research, competitive intelligence tools, drug information systems, and developing medical educational strategies.
- Strong understanding of Clinical Development and Commercial functional areas.
- Ability to be flexible with travel.
