The Senior Director, Vector Engineering is a critical hire to an expanding team and will report directly to the Chief Scientific Officer.  You will serve as the prominent expert for the company and also manage a team of direct reports.  Our client is looking for an experienced and respected expert in the field as they continue to develop their technology.

  • Oversees all programs working alongside of the Chief Science Officer using the latest/best practices and ensuring the progress is aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance across all relevant programs and functions, leveraging renowned technical expertise in plant vector engineering and protein expression.
  • Collaborates with other functions to support business development proposals or evaluation of acquisition targets.
  • Lead the expansion of the function, evaluating performance of existing talent and recruiting appropriate new talent.
  • Leads preparation and presentation for external engagements (e.g., key meeting with business partners, academic audience, global, etc.).


  • Ph.D. in biomedical sciences.
  • Demonstrated strong collaboration skills, including ability to communicate clearly to executives and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (external audiences, especially on technical subjects).
  • 7-10+ years of relevant experience in plant expression systems.
  • Proven track record of cross-functional engagements to manage multiple programs/projects.
  • Strong relationships with other key thought leaders in the plant expression field.
