POSITION SUMMARY: Our client is a global mid-size specialty biotechnology company with multiple approved drugs and drug/devices in various therapeutic areas, foremost in the Neurology space.  The Senior Director of Translational Medicine will oversee the translational medicine group and provide a strong scientific link with Discovery and CDMA to develop and implement strategies which will enable The Company to make more rapid and effective decisions in Phase 1-3 clinical development of drugs for CNS disorders. This position will be a critical element in The Company’s approach to utilize an array of tools such as bioinformatics, biomarkers, in vivo imaging techniques, and unique disease model development to create a more effective bridge between discovery research and clinical R&D.

  • Innovation: The Company is using novel technologies, quantitative methods and approaches from target identification to clinical trial endpoints to bring new medicines to patients
  • Impact: Help develop preventive therapies for adults and pediatric patients with psychiatric and neurological disorders to significantly improve their quality of life
  • Visibility: Work closely with Senior Management on a global basis; work with best scientific minds within Neuroscience internally and externally
  • Create Long-Lasting Relationships: Create, build, and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (FDA); create long-lasting relationships with colleagues and mentors - TMED group is a very close-knit group, full of comradery and support for each other


  • This Physician will be involved in Early Clinical Development - Phase I-II (FIH, PoC studies)
  • Develop and implement strategies for translational medicine; will write and run clinical protocols up to Phase IIa
  • Interact with the FDA in terms of modeling and simulation work, and this interface will be done for the Company worldwide - there are multiple clinical studies being done right now in Japan and Singapore, and a lot of Imaging and Translational work is being done in the UK, at Yale and John Hopkins
  • Attend scientific meetings, conferences, and make presentations as needed


  • MD or MD/PhD degree is required
  • Neuroscience/Neurology experience is necessary (experience with CNS disorders (Depression, Schizophrenia, Seizures, Epilepsy), neurological/neurodegenerative disorders (Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, ALS, MS), or pain
  • Prior translational research and clinical development experience with Phase I-III clinical trials; proven ability to advance compounds from Ph 1 to Ph 2 and Ph 3
  • Experience with novel technologies including biomarkers, imaging techniques, bioinformatics
  • High science driven Physician who wants to learn and excel, attend scientific meetings and conferences, etc. - this is a high science driven group
  • Experience in interacting and negotiation with FDA and other Regulatory bodies
