EVP, Head of Global Oncology Development (Top M.D. Role) | Top 20 Global Oncology Co | NYC Area: RETAINED SEARCH

SUMMARY:

This EVP & Head of Global Oncology Development (Top M.D. Role) will be a major contributor and influencer that will significantly impact this Top 20 Global Oncology Co’s decisions about (1) how to best optimize its current early and later-stage pipeline, which includes a blockbuster asset, and (2) how to best utilize the Co’s unique internal R&D scientific strengths & capabilities and its financial resources to strategically, intelligently and competitively expand and build its Oncology Business with a focus on developing novel, best-in-class cancer therapies utilizing  its multiple in-house Oncology R&D Centers and external assets/acquisitions/collaborations/in-licensing too. This EVP will also directly manage a team of 12 responsible for multiple Global Functional Areas involved with Global Drug Development (i.e. Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, HEOR, Translational Medicine, Biostatistics, and others), and also indirectly oversee a total team of 200+ working in the multiple Global Functional Areas reporting to him/her.

  • Lead the Multiple Global Oncology Drug Development Functional Areas: manage 12 direct reports overseeing the major Global Functional Areas involved with Global Oncology Drug Development, i.e. Clinical Research, Translational Medicine, Regulatory Affairs, HEOR, Data Science, Biostats and other functional areas
  • Proven Success: join an established Oncology Co with multiple development successes (i.e. FDA approvals)
  • 1st Line & Breakthrough: join an Oncology Co that has developed 1st line & breakthrough cancer therapies
  • In-house R&D: join an Oncology Co with multiple “in-house” developed successes
  • Science-based: join an Oncology Co that invests its human and financial capital in understanding the science behind the novel therapies it chooses to focus on/develop
  • Pipeline: join an Oncology Co with multiple early & later-stage assets in addition to its already commercialized assets
  • Strategic Collaborations: join an Oncology Co with an appetite for establishing successful strategic development collaborations with major Pharma and Biopharma Industry Leaders
  • R&D Spend: join an Oncology Co that understand the financial commitment and investment necessary to succeed in the Oncology TA, and that annually spends ~$1 Billion on R&D
  • Culture: join an Oncology Co that has always kept “helping cancer patients” as its primary goal and focus in all its development efforts

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MD Hematologist/Oncologist
  • 15+ years of progressive drug development experience gained working in industry
  • Management: track record of effectively & directly managing multiple drug development functional areas
  • Leadership: track record of effectively working with Sr. Exec Management & Functional Area Leaders
  • Development: track record of successfully developing early and later-stage oncology assets
  • Medical Strategy: track record of making significant contributions that impacted/influenced the strategic decisions made about asset prioritizations, development focus, and asset in-licensing, acquisitions and/or collaborations
  • Communication: Very strong communication skills (i.e. strong oral, writing and presentation skills)
